Coaches
Head Coaches: Mark Gray

Assistant Coach: Jen Anders
Jen Anders has been coaching and swimming competitively for over ten years.
Raised on a lake in a small town outside of Kansas City, Kansas, she comes from
a swimming enthusiast family; her mother, clerk of the course; father, stroke
judge and starter; oldest brother was her summer coach; and other brother, her
fiercest competitor! She began swimming in the lake of their country club during
the summers, and found at an early age it would be her specialty.
Unfortunately, the 3A high school Jen attended didn’t have a pool or swim team,
so they explored the option of swimming for the local USA Team, the Kansas
City Blazers. With a full commitment to swimming, Jen finally hit her best time
in the 100 back, landing a chance to compete in the 1996 Olympic trials.
Regrettably, she was disqualified on an illegal turn, and shortly thereafter
decided to take a break from swimming and head into her senior year of high
school focused on her future.
Since then, Jen knew swimming was a sport she would be dedicated to for life,
and realized coaching was another way to stay involved. Jen coached her
summer team while she earned an Associates degree from Johnson County
Community College. While she pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology at
the University of Missouri-Kansas City, YMCA put a facility in her home town,
so with the help of her summer team parents, they decided to start a parent-run
USA swim team.
She led the USA team, BSSC for four years until her fiancé took a job in Salt Lake City, Utah. Six months after he moved, she joined him and has had the pleasure of coaching private lessons and public swim lessons at Pepperwood Country Club under the direction of her good friend, Sara Watchorn. She also had great success exploring swimming as a focus tool for children with Autism.
Jen is excited for the opportunity to assist the team and learn from Head Coach
Mark Gray. She hopes to be a strong link and representative for the kids and
parents of Rowland Hall. -
