Winged Lion Athletics
Competing in sports is a fun and important aspect of a student’s overall school experience. You’ll find our middle and upper school sports programs provide the perfect platform for athletes to develop the knowledge, skills, and strategies to play competitively, while incorporating lessons in leadership, fair play, and responsibility.
Rowland Hall’s Upper School is classified as a Division 2A school in Region 14 of the Utah High School Activities Association (UHSAA). Middle School student-athletes compete in the Wasatch Athletic Conference and can be three season athletes in boys and girls sports. Our Upper School Winged Lions have won 24 state championship titles since 2007. Added to that are the numerous individual region and state titles in track and cross-country, tennis, golf, and swimming, the UHSAA Sportsmanship Award, and the Deseret News All Sports Award as the school with the most state championships in 2007.
Middle School student-athletes compete in the Wasatch Athletic Conference and can be three season athletes in boys' and girls' sports. Team philosophy, drills, and game strategy are ultimately led by the Upper School Varsity coaches, creating a streamlined grade six through twelve athletic program. The Middle School is proud of an athletic program that welcomes players of all abilities, yet consistently wins league and tournament titles each year.
Seventy-five percent of all Middle School and Upper School students participate in at least one of the school’s 17 sports teams.
