Car Seat Safety

Thursday, January 14 8:15-9:00 am. A representative from the Utah Safety Council will be available to talk with parents and answer any questions regarding the use of car seats. She will also explain the "Buckle Up For Love" program. Those who observe a child that is not restrained in a child safety seat or safety belt are encouraged to call 1-
800-887-KIDS with the license plate number and location of the automobile, approximate age of the child and
the date and time of the observation. Without penalizing the owner of the vehicle, the Utah Safety Council assures that the owner of the observed vehicle receives life-saving information in English or Spanish regarding the use of
child safety seats.

Parent Teacher Conferences

Dear Parents,

As you are planning for or scheduling your February Parent Teacher conferences, please keep in mind that we set two days aside for parent teacher conferences for a reason. Our faculty members are very busy, committed to using their time during the day to work with students, collaborate with other teachers, and to prepare for classes.

Teachers had to accommodate more rescheduled conferences than usual last October due to parents being out of town on trips with their children. If they have too many interruptions in the day, it diminishes the quality of what they are able to do. When many parents use parent teacher conference days for trips and ask to schedule their conferences on other day, it creates an extra burden for the teachers.

So, I ask that you not use parent teacher conference days either in October or February as a vacation weekend if you also want parent teacher conferences. As you plan your family activities both for this February and next October, please keep this in mind.

Donations to Heartland Head Start

We keep a wicker chest inside the front door of the Beginning School to collect children's clothing in good condition. Donations are made to Heartland Head Start. This Head Start program is attended by many refugee children whose needs are great. Your generous donations are appreciated.

The Extended Day program will be available for Parent Teacher Conferences, but does require Special Registration. Please sign up on the pink form at Janet's desk. The deadline to register is Friday, January 29. Tricia and Erin will be teaching on these dates.
