| Green Cup Challenge: On Monday, Jan 25, Rowland Hall will kick-off the annual Green Cup Challenge, a month long student-driven, inter-school energy competition with 183 schools across the United States. We will do our best to minimize electrical usage by using natural light whenever possible, unplugging chargers and turning off surge protectors when not in use, and maximizing computer battery efficiencies. What can you do at home? Lighting accounts for 15% of all energy used in homes, so you can: turn off lights when leaving a room; replace incandescent light bulbs with CFLs; use natural light; install automatic timers and dimmers.
