Emergency Procedures

The Alert Now Notification System

McCarthey Campus Emergency Evacuation - March 2009Rowland Hall is using the AlertNow Rapid Communication Service to deliver urgent campus-wide or school-wide emergency messages via voice and text messaging within minutes to parents’ telephones or any Internet-enabled device, including mobile phones and computers. Please make sure that when you change email or phone service providers and have new contact information that you notify the front desk at your child(ren)’s division(s) as soon as possible.

Alert Now will be used to communicate snow day or other school closure notifications or any other urgent emergency information as needed.

AlertNow will supplement our emergency communication procedures and replace outdated phone trees that require large blocks of time to deliver messages to multiple recipients. When you receive an AlertNow message from us the school phone number is displayed on caller ID for non-emergency calls and distinguishes urgent emergency calls with a "411" caller ID display.

Parents, please remember that Rowland Hall will only release students to an adult (not a sibling).

Earthquake Emergency Contact

(or any other emergency when local phone service is disrupted) is the Pilgrim School, Los Angeles, CA, 213-385-7351.

General Emergency Procedures

Emergency drills – fire, earthquake, shelter in place – are held regularly at both campuses and emergency preparedness procedures are reviewed and evaluated continually by both in-school faculty and staff emergency committees and parent committees associated with our Home and School Association.

Note to Media:

In an emergency, please do not call the phone land line, instead call Susan Koles, Director of Communications and Marketing, at 801-633-8480 or email susankoles@rowlandhall.org.
