Freshman Breezy Johnson Qualifies for International Championship

Freshman Breezy Johnson is off to Italy

Rowmarker Breezy Johnson '13 (Victor, WY) qualified this past weekend to take part in the 49th running of the Trofeo Topolino ski games in Italy, the most prestigious children's ski event in the world. Johnson is one of six young alpine ski racers (3 boys, 3 girls) from across the country to have been selected by the U.S. Ski Team's National Development System.

Breezy managed to overcome the snowy conditions at Park City last weekend to take first place overall -  beating out the other top girls from the Western U.S.  "Breezy's fantastic skiing and mental toughness enabled her to outski all the other competitiors" said Todd Brickson, Rowmark Director and J3 coach. "We are extremely proud of what she accomplished and thrilled that she will be representing the U.S. and Rowmark at these events". Trofeo Topolino will take place March 5 & 6 at Panarotta in Levico Terme, Italy.

It is the 14th consecutive year a U.S. team has taken part in Trofeo Topolino. Past champions include the U.S. Ski Team's double World Champion Lindsey Vonn (Vail, CO) and rising speed star Andrew Weibrecht (Lake Placid, NY).

Over 40 nations are expected to take part in this event.
