Position Summary

This is a new, full-time position designed to expand opportunities for entrepreneurship, business, economics, innovation, and student-generated project work in the upper school. This teacher will continue to build on our current program which includes courses in entrepreneurship and business. Additional courses are TBD depending on the experience and interests that the new hire brings to the table. 

Primary Job Responsibilities

  • Teach 3-4 year-long (or semester equivalent) courses in finance, business, entrepreneurship, and economics (specifics TBD depending on hire and scope of projects lab and other programs)
  • Design, implement, and oversee an independent projects lab for seniors interested in developing an idea soup to nuts in a guided and collaborative environment 
  • Work collaboratively with other faculty to support student projects and to identify opportunities for cross-curricular work
  • Develop an entrepreneurship or investment club and/or partner with the current Internship Coordinator to develop and establish more business-related internships 
  • Optional (additional stipend): serve as an advisor to a group of 10-13 students 
  • Additional responsibilities: chaperone student events and serve lunch duty; lead an Interim experience; participate in school meetings as assigned by the division principal

Rowland Hall seeks an educator who can help students find confidence in developing new skills and ideas, taking risks and failing forward, and positively impacting their communities. The candidate has excellent interpersonal skills, a sense of humor, and a commitment to reflecting on their practice and continuously improving it. Strong candidates will be dedicated to teamwork and be comfortable sharing classroom space with colleagues. A bachelor’s or master’s degree in a related field, business experience, and/or teaching experience are preferred. In addition, the ideal candidate: 

  • has excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to engage students at all grade and skill levels
  • is interested in growing a curriculum and program that furthers the school’s strategic priorities
  • has a vision for developing original and innovative programming along with the ability to execute
  • seeks out collaboration with other faculty members and community institutions to encourage interdisciplinary thinking and real-world impact  
  • has experience managing collaborative projects using Agile or other project management schema
  • demonstrates cultural competency and a commitment to classroom management and curriculum development that promotes equity and inclusion
  • possesses connections to the higher ed, business, and/or startup communities (a plus)
  • communicates effectively with constituents, including students, families, and colleagues 
  • has strong organizational and time management skills
  • contributes productively as a team member of grade level, division, and all school groups

Additional Information

This is a full-time, 12-month, exempt position, reporting to the Upper School Principal. The anticipated start date is August 1, 2024.
