Faculty & Staff Profile
Darryl’s coaching career started when he had straps, not brakes, on his skis. He spent his first 20 years as a coach in Mammoth, California, where—thanks to some great mentors—he found the education needed to become a better coach and person. He also spent seven years as a pro racer and became a Level III Instructor (certified by Professional Ski Instructors of America and the American Association of Snowboard Instructors, or PSIA-AASI), a Level 500 Coach (certified by U.S. Ski and Snowboard, or USSA), and a father of two sons.
Prior to Rowmark, Darryl served as a program director of two clubs in Lake Tahoe, California, and an age-class director of a club in Colorado. He also worked for USSA full time as a regional youth coach, and part time in coaches’ education for over 25 years.
Darryl keeps busy in the off-season by working as a small-time contractor/carpenter while staying competitive on the water-ski course and tennis court. He also seeks time to spend with his three granddaughters and one hiking dog, Powderhound.
