Biography:

Wendy came to Rowland Hall in fall 2018. She previously worked as history department chair at Connecticut’s Westover School and Colorado’s Vail Mountain School, and as a history teacher and director of international programming at Ohio’s Laurel School. She has a BA and MA in history from Brigham Young University. Besides living in several places in the US, Wendy has lived in Japan with her husband and three daughters due to her husband’s work as a historian of Japan. While there, she enjoyed learning the language and arts of the country: she has studied Japanese calligraphy, pottery, and flower arranging, and enjoys incorporating Japanese wabi aesthetics in her life. Wendy has served the world history community as a consultant to the Educational Testing Service and the College Board on instruction and testing for both students (AP and SAT) and teachers (Praxis). She has focused her career on the promotion of women’s education and leadership and is both a National Association of Independent Schools Aspiring Heads fellow and an alumna of the Heads Network Women’s Leadership Seminar.
