Emily Quetone Khan arrived in Salt Lake City to join the Rowland Hall community in 2021. Her many years in PreK-12 education as a special education classroom teacher, learning specialist, and administrator have been in public, charter, non-public (NPS), independent, and non-traditional school settings across California, Florida, and New York. Emily has a bachelor’s degree in Native American studies, French, and education from Dartmouth College, a master’s in special education, and an education specialist credential from San Francisco State University. She is passionate about the equity and social justice work that is so integral to school communities and about creating systems, structures, and connections that help meet the needs of all kinds of learners, families, and teachers.

Emily is an avid reader, food lover, and singer who sometimes dabbles in songwriting. She enjoys traveling, outdoor adventures, satisfying her sweet tooth, and movie nights with her husband, Shuja, their kids, Nas and Aubrey (all three are also at Rowland Hall), their dog, Cali, and their cat, Duke. The whole family is learning to love snow as much as the ocean and happily exploring Utah.
