Chandani Patel joined Rowland Hall in July 2021 as the inaugural director of equity and inclusion. She was drawn to the school because of its warm and welcoming environment and deep commitment to creating a strong sense of belonging for all community members. Before joining Rowland Hall, Chandani was the director for global diversity education at NYU, where she worked closely with faculty on inclusive teaching practices and with campus partners to build an equitable and inclusive campus community. Prior to working at NYU, Chandani held roles at both the Columbia University Center for Teaching and Learning as well as the University of Chicago Center for Teaching, where she supported instructors in their ongoing teaching development.

Chandani also serves as the co-chair for the South Asian American Digital Archive's Academic Council and provides coaching and consulting focused on equity and inclusion to a range of educational institutions nationally. In her personal life, she loves running, hiking, baking with her daughter, Aashna (a student at Rowland Hall), reading, bicycling, and spending time with her family exploring Salt Lake City and its surrounding wilderness.
