Effy Bentley first came to the US at age 15 as an exchange student. Before leaving, she made a promise that she would come back and become a French teacher in the US. Fast forward 10 years, during which she earned a BA in English, an MA in French as a foreign language in France, and completed many internships teaching French in London, Russia, and Argentina, Effy received a scholarship to study an MA in French at the University of New Mexico. Upon completing her second MA, she worked in an independent school in Albuquerque for five years. She taught all levels of French, from sixth-grade French to French 5.

Effy enjoys doing sports, all outdoor activities, and exploring national parks. Effy is also an avid runner.

Effy welcomed her daughter, Haven, in 2022. She owns a cat, Phoenix, and a dog, Firenze, both named after Harry Potter characters.
