Biography:

Dan grew up in Golden Valley, MN, and started his college career studying art before he fell in love with science and wanted to teach. He got to do one of his student teaching semesters in New Zealand at the Sir Edmund Hillary Outdoor Pursuits Centre. He has lived on Lake Superior, Lake Taupo, and now the Great Salt Lake. What an honor!

Dan has been able to teach earth science, biology, astronomy, environmental science, and environmental field studies in several different schools, and was also the IT assistant director at his last school. He has been a slalom ski racing coach for 25 years. After 23 years working in schools, he was the IT director for a large commercial construction company. His family took the opportunity to move to Salt Lake City so Dan could join the Rowland Hall team; he came to Salt Lake with his daughter, Hayley (class of 2024), and wife, Anne. His son, Isaac, is a mechanical engineering student at Michigan Technological University (go Huskies!).

Dan loves to travel, get dusty on his mountain bike, and never turns down an opportunity to get on the snow (unless he has to work).
