Faculty & Staff Profile
Brian Birchler
MSE, Biomedical Engineering, University of Michigan
MAT, Teaching, University of Utah
Brian joined the Rowland Hall Math Department in 2013. He has a BSE in materials science and engineering and an MSE in biomedical engineering from the University of Michigan, as well as a master's in teaching from the University of Utah. Brian moved to Salt Lake in 2005 to begin a PhD in bioengineering at the University of Utah, but after being a teaching assistant in a cardiovascular physiology lab, he decided a career in education was a better fit. Brian has a particular interest in teaching statistics and data science, and he is a big believer in using technology to help students visualize mathematical ideas. In his spare time, Brian can be found mountain biking along the Wasatch Front, skate skiing at Round Valley, or playing what some might describe as "absurdly complex" board games with friends.
