Lindsay Mackintosh
MAT, Teaching, University of San Francisco
Lindsay Mackintosh joined Rowland Hall in 2023. She enjoys working with middle school students, being outside, traveling, and learning about science. She started her career in San Francisco, working at the Brandeis School of San Francisco teaching middle school science. Before joining the staff at Rowland Hall, she taught middle school science and astronomy at City Academy, where she collaborated with the National Science Foundation to create an engineering-based ecology unit. She has traveled with students to Israel, Joshua Tree, and Cedar City, UT, to further their understanding of ecosystems, geology, and engineering. She has created and run a summer camp in the Wasatch Mountains, teaching students about how to use a compass, edible plants, and the basics of hiking, as well as headed up the Chill program at City Academy, teaching at-risk students how to snowboard.
While she enjoys infusing her professional life with her personal interests, she also enjoys furthering her own education in her free time. She is a part of the Mushroom Society of Utah, helping to identify and genetically sequence mushrooms found in the mountains of Utah. She is an avid skier and judges ski mogul competitions in the winter. She also enjoys climbing, biking, and astronomy.
