Faculty & Staff Profile
Kaelis Sandstrom
MAT, Teaching, University of Southern California
Kaelis joined the Rowland Hall faculty in 2023 but had spent two summers as the lead counselor for the Leaders in Training (LIT) program at Rowland Hall SummerWorks. Kaelis is a recent graduate from the University of Southern California's MAT (master of art in teaching) program. Prior to pursuing her master's, she grew her love of the natural world, teaching, and technology while working in various education positions at Loveland Living Planet Aquarium. While earning her bachelor's in biodiversity and conservation, she spent a semester at the University of Waikato in Hamilton, New Zealand, studying the evolutionary relationships of native spiders and invertebrate diversity. During that time, she further developed a keen interest in the wide range of uses of technology. Kaelis would describe herself as a lifelong learner and is excited for the opportunity to combine many of her studies and interests into one.
In her free time, Kaelis loves to travel with her spouse and has a goal to visit every continent. She enjoys spending time outdoors skiing, hiking, golfing, birding, and playing volleyball. Kaelis also loves being home watching movies or TV, reading, and playing video games. She has a particular affinity for Star Wars and Pokémon.
