Degrees: BS, General Studies, Science, Portland State University

Biography:

Since she was a teenager, Colleen knew she wanted to become an educator. After high school, she pursued a bachelor of science degree at Portland State University, focusing her studies on chemistry and general science. Colleen then went on to earn a master of arts in teaching at George Fox University. Colleen left her home state of Oregon and taught high school science at public schools in Washington State and international schools in South Korea and Spain. Sparked by her interests in learning, reading, and research, as well as a love for working with students and teachers, Colleen followed a path out of the classroom and into the library. In 2019 she completed a Master of Library and Information Science program and earned her teacher librarian certification at San Jose State University before returning to South Korea to serve as the secondary librarian in an international school. After 14 years of teaching abroad and having the grandest of adventures all over the world, Colleen returned to the United States in 2024 to join the Rowland Hall community as the Middle School and Upper School librarian.

In her free time, Colleen enjoys traveling to places both new and familiar, reading, going on adventures with Daphne (her dachshund sidekick), visiting family and friends, discovering the best local coffee shops, and experimenting with crafty and creative projects.
