Faculty & Staff Profile

Tyler Waterhouse
Master's Degree, Teaching, Westminster College
Tyler is excited to join the Rowland Hall community and bring his Utah teaching journey full circle. He and his wife, Lu Lu, moved to Utah in 2010 for a pediatrics medical residency (Lu Lu) and the skiing (Tyler). During the 2010–2011 school year, Tyler was a student teacher in Middle School math and science courses at Rowland Hall while earning his master's in teaching from Westminster College. After 13 years teaching middle and high school mathematics, and occasionally some science courses, at a few other independent schools in the valley, Tyler has made it back to Rowland Hall.
Prior to teaching, Tyler worked for Goldman Sachs trading options in the Chicago trading pits, and then traded equities, bonds, currencies, and commodities for a hedge fund in Greenwich, CT. Tyler chose to leave the financial world for a more fulfilling career working directly with young learners and sharing the power and variety of mathematics.
Tyler and Lu Lu have two sons, Bode and Nash, and a dog. The Waterhouses are a mountain family and love to ski, hike, trail run, camp, rock climb, and more.
