Biography:

David Hall is professional music educator and woodwind musician. He earned his doctoral degree in classical saxophone performance and education, and his master’s degree in jazz performance, both from the University of Utah. In addition to his music education, David has an MBA from Westminster College and a BS in political science from the University of Utah.

As an educator, David has traveled the world teaching in a myriad of cultures to students of all ages, including 30+ years as a private music teacher and three years as an adjunct professor at the University of Utah, and he was honored to teach a master class at the University of St Andrews in Scotland. He also spent two years teaching ESL in Taiwan and was a consultant for clarinet design in Beijing with Cannonball Music.

In addition to teaching, David performs regularly across the region including with Salt Lake City’s Night Star Jazz Orchestra, Joe Muscolino Band, and The Richard Brown Band in Jackson, WY. He has performed with internationally recognized musicians such as Doc Severinsen, Eddie Daniels, Byron Stripling, and award-winning classical pianist Kirill Gerstein, among many others. David has extensive experience playing in theatrical venues including pit work for Broadway Across America (Eccles Theater), Pioneer Theater Company, Ballet West, and Grand Teton Music Festival.
