Biography:

Tamara Schurdak joined the Rowland Hall community in 2026. She began her career in a college admissions office, where she traveled to schools across the US (including Utah!) and Canada. Always drawn to teaching, she moved from college counseling into full-time classroom work, taking on roles along the way as coach, advisor, dean, and department chair before stepping into administration as both a middle school division head and a head of school.

Tamara is passionate about building teaching, learning, and reflective communities where everyone belongs and where joy is at the center of learning. A firm believer in the remarkable growth that happens during the middle school years, she is equally committed to connecting learning across all divisions.

Tamara holds a BA from Yale University, an MA from Stanford University, and an MEd from Teachers College at Columbia University. Outside of education, she loves exploring new places, reading, staying active, learning new things, listening to live music, doing puzzles, and spending time with family and friends.
