Emergency Pick-Up Drill
September 23, 2022

On Friday, September 23, 2022, we will conduct an Emergency Pick-Up Drill for both Beginning and Lower School students. We run this drill each year so that faculty, staff, and parents can practice picking up and signing out students in the event of an emergency. If we have your number and email address on file, you will receive a message through our e-notification system, Blackboardconnect, via text, email, and voicemail as the drill commences so that we can practice our system. If you do not receive notification for the drill, contact Laura Hermance for Lower School or Rebecca Jones for Beginning School. This will allow us to add you to the e-notification system.

Students will be released only to parents or persons identified on the Emergency Form. If you want someone other than a parent to pick up your child, please make sure you have updated the form prior to September 16 (see Laura Hermance or Rebecca Jones).

Lower School Parents or Designees Must Follow These Procedures:

  1. If the last name of your child begins with the letter A-M, please arrive at school between 2:45 and 3:00. You may then pick up your child and any others for which you have permission; e.g. carpool. If the last name of your child begins with the letter N-Z, please arrive at school between 3:00 and 3:15. You may then pick up your child and any others for which you have permission.
  2. Enter the doors by the main foyer in the Lower School on either the north side or the south side. All other doors will be locked.
  3. In order to check out your child, you will need to present a picture ID.
  4. Proceed to classroom(s) to pick up your child(ren).
  5. Exit the building as soon as possible through the west doors of the Lower School near the playground.
  6. Leave campus.

Beginning School Parents or Designees Must Follow These Procedures:

Note: There is no electronic message sent for the half day drill
  1. If your child is attending half day, please arrive at school at 12:15 p.m. You may then pick up your child and any others for which you have permission.
  2. If your child is staying full day, and if the last name of your child begins with A-M, please arrive at school between 2:45 and 3:00. If the last name of your child begins with letters N-Z, please arrive at school between 3:00-3:15. You may then pick up your child and any others for which you have permission.
  3. Enter the Beginning School through the east, main doors. All other doors will be locked.
  4. In order to check out your child, you will need to present a picture ID.
  5. Proceed to classroom(s) to pick up your child.
  6. Exit the building as soon as possible through the west doors of the Beginning School.
  7. Leave campus.

If you are going to pick up both Lower School and Beginning School children in the afternoon, please go to the Lower School first and then proceed to the Beginning School.

We encourage all parents to practice the emergency pick-up procedures. We recognize this may be extremely difficult for some. Therefore, other arrangements can be made for your child.

If your child rides the bus:

The inter-campus shuttle will NOT run on this day. The Park City bus will run as usual. Transportation personnel will check out all bus students unless otherwise notified. Please contact Alec Baden at 801-924-2954 if you will be picking up your child and they will NOT be riding the bus.

Beginning School Extended Day will be available as usual.

If your child goes to the Lower School Extended Day Program on Fridays:

Please contact Robert Prestgard-Duke at 801-924-2971 at the Lower School to inform them if your child WILL be attending Extended Day on Friday. Music lessons and Friday classes WILL run as scheduled. The Extended Day staff will sign out children from the classroom and take them to Extended Day. When you pick up your child from Extended Day, you will sign her/him out on the Emergency Pick-Up form.

Please speak with your child about the need to follow the directions of school personnel, especially during an emergency.

In the event of an actual emergency:

  • Do not telephone the school. Telephone lines will be needed for emergency contacts and communication.
  • Students will be kept at school until a parent or an adult designated on the Emergency Form signs your child out.
  • Tune into local news via radio, television, and social media for updates.

If you have additional questions please contact Eric Schmitz at 801-924-2948 or Alec Baden 801-924-2954.
