The Sharing Place

The Sharing Place

1 position
Contact: Chris Smith
Minimum commitment of one month, at around 5 hours per week.

The Sharing Place is a not-for-profit that supports children and families who have lost a parent or caregiver. Working with them will give you a close-up view of not-for-profit management while expanding your skills and experience in social media strategy development, event planning, fundraising, and database management. You may have opportunities to help plan events and activities for children ages 3 to 18 at the Sharing Place or to volunteer at a 3-day Comfort Zone Camp that the Sharing Place offers in partnership with IHC. These opportunities would give you some experience in applied psychology and knowledge of possible career paths in psychology. You may also play a pivotal role in organizing their new alumni network for people who have been involved with the Sharing Place in the past, which would again involve marketing and communication as well as event organization and promotion.

In short, the staff at the Sharing Place will adapt the internship to your interests, and you'll have the added benefit of working with an organization that does meaningful work in our community. So whether you're interested in not-for-profit work and management, social media campaign design, psychology, grief support, developing programs for children, or event planning, this internship will prepare you for rewarding work in multiple fields and give you experience that will serve you well in college and beyond.
