Minimum commitment of one month.
The Utah Department of Cultural & Community Engagement encompasses seven divisions and two offices: State History, State Library, Arts & Museums, Indian Affairs, Multicultural Affairs, UServe (the state's commission on volunteerism, which includes all of Utah's Americorps programs), the STEM Action Center, the State Historic Preservation Office, and the Pete Suazo Athletic Commission. CCE is also currently developing a state history museum that will be built in the Capitol complex and open in 2025. The department is looking for interns at every division, as well as at the department level, and interested interns will be directed to the division that best fits their interests and skills.
Responsibilities might include coordinating events for students and community groups; graphic design; content creation/writing, including social media and blog posts; attending legislative meetings; and engaging in the design and research process for the Museum of Utah. This internship is ideal for students interested in state government, community outreach, tribal nations, multicultural communities, Utah history, arts & cultural organizations, and STEM education.
