This season marked a significant jump forward for the Rowland Hall girls golf program, both as a team and individually. The team was led by captains Kate Weissman and Lila Bates, resulting in a clean sweep of region play. Freshman standout Akemi Kawabata made a substantial contribution from the get-go, concluding her individual season with a fifth-place finish at the state competition.

We began region play at the always challenging Sleepy Ridge Golf Course, a long and unforgiving course. Despite the challenges posed by the course and being the first event of the year, the team persevered and kicked off the season with a region victory. Each subsequent week, both as a team and individually, we experienced continuous improvement, achieving numerous personal bests and maintaining an undefeated record in region play.

The region tournament witnessed the largest margin of victory, besting the second-place finish by 56 strokes. To add on top of this remarkable achievement, an exciting playoff for the individual title ensued between two of our players, junior Kate Weissman and freshman Akemi Kawabata, who secured first and second places, respectively. Kate emerged victorious with a challenging 10-foot putt that clinched the first-place title.

To conclude the top 10 in region play, Lila Bates achieved a fourth-place finish, Sadie Datoo secured sixth place, and Tori Somerville placed eighth. This was an exceptional highlight among many this season, where growth and progress were the primary objectives and, with no doubt, were met and surpassed.

Next season all team members will return, eager to build upon the success of this season and take the next step at the state tournament.
