Dear Middle School Parents and Caregivers,
To quote a friend and colleague, ‘60 1-minute conversations are more beneficial than 1 60-minute conversation’. This is especially true with Middle School students as their brains are developing. We would like to ask Middle School families to carve time out this weekend to talk with students about respect and responsibility. We have 3 guiding behavior goals in the Middle School, and ask that you engage in what these might look like at school and in your family.
Respect yourself and others; treat everyone in the community with kindness
Respect the classrooms and common spaces; pick up after yourself
Be a responsible learner; give your personal best and encourage classmates
Whether on social media, YouTube, on the radio, or in conversations they overhear, a lot is swirling around our students - your children - right now. They are hearing and seeing things that they may not fully understand. As parents, if you see or hear something disturbing in the media, it is likely that your child has also been exposed to this. We encourage you to lean into conversations with your child about what is being seen or heard, sharing some of the history or context that they may not have, and framing the conversations in our shared school values.
We need your help! For our action project, we’re collecting clean plastic waste, such as food containers and bottles. Please ensure items are reasonably dry and clean before dropping them off in the plastic collection bin outside Ms. Miller's room.
Thank you for supporting our Winged Lions in making a difference!
Peer Tutoring, which is run by Rowland Hall Upper School students, will now be available through the Extended Day program on Wednesdays from 3:30-4:30 on the McCarthey Campus. Interested families please reach out to the Director of Extended Day, Robert Prestgard-Duke.
Extended Day will offer new classes for the winter term starting on January 6! You can read all about Extended Day, look over the options, and sign up here! Registration will open on November 22nd at 6:00 PM. Please contact Robert Prestgard-Duke with questions.

Rowland Hall will once again be hosting Utah Elite Driving School to conduct a 9 day course for our students on campus after school, starting on January 21, 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM. Additional information about the course can be found here.
On Thursday, November 21, Upper School students were presented with the upcoming 2025 Interim Experiences running the week of May 19, as well as 2 summer options. Here is a detailed slideshow about the Interim program, the experience offerings, and the cost. Interim is a requirement for grades 9 –11 each year with 12th graders encouraged to participate.
Parents will fill out a Google form with the list of offerings in order to rank their student’s 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th experience choices. The sign-up form must be completed by Monday, December 9. Experience assignments will be released in January. Please email interim@rowlandhall.org with any questions or concerns.
This is a friendly reminder to report all planned absences to usattendance@rowlandhall.org in a timely manner. If a student will be absent more than 2 days, they must complete a Planned Absence Form, meet with their teachers, and follow the steps to complete the form before their absence. This ensures the student is aware of the work they are missing and how they can keep and/or catch up on coursework upon their return.

All members of the Rowland Hall community are warmly invited to attend Seasons of Light on Wednesday, December 11, from 6:30–8 pm. Rowland Hall’s oldest tradition celebrates diverse cultural and faith traditions featuring student musicians from the Lower School, Middle School, and Upper School.
Prepare to bring the spirit of the Kentucky Derby to life while supporting our 2025 Auction, Derby Day! Auction-themed crewnecks and hoodies are now available for purchase in the School Store. Navy crewnecks are uniform-approved for Lower School, and all colors and styles are uniform-approved for Middle School.
Additionally, you can order Mint Julep Kits, handcrafted to include all the essentials for making the perfect juleps. These Mint Julep Kits are available for order through the School Store but can only be picked up at the McCarthey Campus.
Rowland Hall will contribute all proceeds from these items to the upcoming Derby Day Auction.
