Rowmark Ski Academy

Rowmark Ski Academy blends world-class ski racing with rigorous academics.

Founded in 1982, Rowmark has produced Olympians, World Champions, US Ski Team members, and top college athletes—while staying committed to educational excellence.

Rowmark’s mission is to provide the best program for athletes to develop their potential as elite ski racers, engaged students, positive role models, and contributing members of society.

One of the nation’s leading ski-racing academies, Rowmark develops athletes who consistently rank at the top of national and regional competitions. Since 1988, at least one Rowmark alum has competed in every Winter Olympics, and we're a primary feeder program for the US Ski Team, with 19 of our athletes earning spots on the team to date. Our graduates also go on to race for top colleges and universities.

World-Class Training Terrain

Rowmarkers train primarily at the Spencer F. Eccles Olympic Mountain Center at Utah Olympic Park, the premier training venue in the Western United States. Unlike recreational resorts, UOP is dedicated solely to athlete development, with world-class lanes for all racing disciplines. The state-of-the-art facility offers 1,200 vertical feet25 acres of expert terrain10 lanes of advanced alpine and freestyle terrain, a high-speed quad, and high-efficiency snowmaking systems.

As one of UOP’s founding resident teams, Rowmark enjoys priority access to training lanes and uses the venue throughout most of the year. This unmatched access ensures more quality time on snow, less time waiting, and the best environment for building elite racers.

Beyond UOP, Rowmark athletes refine their skills at Park City Mountain and Snowbird, combining varied terrain with technical challenges to build well-rounded skiers.

Utah’s First Ski Academy

In 1982, University of Utah professor Dr. Carl Kjeldsberg, the father of two alpine ski racers, approached Rowland Hall’s then head of school, Tom Jackson, with a simple but groundbreaking idea: pairing world-class ski training alongside a first-rate education.

Tom was intrigued. While seven resorts boasting the greatest snow on earth were within 45 minutes of Salt Lake City, no school had yet combined rigorous academics with world-class ski training.

With the guidance of experienced alpine coach Olle Larsson, who would direct the program until 2002, Rowland Hall opened Rowmark Ski Academy that winter. The new division boosted the school’s recognition and was almost instantly heralded by the community—The Salt Lake Tribune even ran the news under the headline “What took so long?”

If you care about academics and athletics, there is only one academy that really makes the cut, and that’s Rowmark.
